Welcome to AstraLearners. We are passionate about empowering home-educating families with high-quality resources in a secure, private environment.
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the AstraLearners platform. They represent a legally binding agreement between AstraLearners Ltd (registered in England and Wales) and you, the Account Holder (Parent/Guardian). By subscribing to or using our platform, you agree to these Terms in full.
1. OUR COMMITMENT TO PRIVACY & ANONYMITY
We built AstraLearners to be a safe haven for your family. We champion your right to privacy and intentionally design our systems to keep your educational journey strictly within your control.
Mandatory Anonymity: To protect your child's identity and maintain their digital safety, you must not use your child’s real, identifiable name for their login or username.
System-Generated Display Names: All child profiles will be assigned system-generated, anonymous display names (e.g., "LunarLeaper7") for use within the platform's gamified elements.
Communication: We will never contact your child directly. All communications regarding account issues, technical support, or platform updates will be sent exclusively to the Parent/Guardian email address on file.
Marketing: We will only send you marketing communications if you explicitly opt-in. You have the right to unsubscribe from marketing at any time without affecting your service. We will, however, continue to send essential service emails (e.g., billing, privacy updates, security alerts).
2. DATA PROTECTION & YOUR GDPR RIGHTS
AstraLearners Ltd fully complies with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA).
Right to Erasure: While we hold your data securely, you remain in complete control. You have the right to request the immediate and permanent deletion of your account and all associated files at any time, outside of our standard retention periods, by contacting our support team.

3. ACCOUNT CREATION & FAMILY CAPACITY
Parental Authority: You must be 18 or older to create an account. You are the sole contracting party and assume full legal and financial responsibility for all activity under your account.
Family Size Limits: A standard AstraLearners subscription covers up to four (4) learner profiles per family.
Additional Seats: We welcome larger families. You may request unlimited additional child profiles; however, to prevent account-sharing across different households, you must contact support to authorize these additions. We reserve the right to request proof of guardianship for additional seats.
4. SUBSCRIPTIONS, TIERS & THE "ARCHIVE" ADD-ON
AstraLearners operates on a recurring subscription model.
Standard Tier (£9.99/mo or £89.99/yr): Includes full curriculum access and 5GB of active Vault storage per family.
Pro Tier (£14.99/mo or £129.99/yr): Includes full curriculum access, 50GB of active Vault storage per family, and the ability to upload video files to your Vault.
The Archive Add-on (£5.00/mo): To help you maintain detailed historical records without exhausting your active Vault storage, we offer an Archive subscription. This allows you to "save and reset" your Vault annually, securely storing previous years' work while freeing up your 5GB/50GB quota for the current academic year. If the Archive Add-on is cancelled, you will have 60 days to download your historical data before it is permanently deleted.
Price Changes: We will provide a minimum of 30 days' written notice before implementing any changes to our subscription fees.
5. BILLING, FAILED PAYMENTS & CANCELLATIONS
Failed Payments & Grace Period: Payments are processed securely via our payment partner (Stripe). If your recurring payment fails, we provide a 7-day grace period. During these 7 days, your family’s access to the curriculum remains fully active while our payment provider attempts to process the charge.
Account Suspension: If payment is not successfully collected after the 7-day grace period, your subscription will be automatically cancelled. At this point, both parent and child access to the curriculum, Labs, and Passports will be immediately revoked. However, you will retain access to your Vault for an additional 60 days to download your files.
How to Cancel: You must cancel your subscription yourself via the Billing Dashboard within your parent portal. Cancellations requested via email, social media, or phone cannot be processed for security reasons.
Statutory Cooling-Off Period: Under the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations, you have a 14-day right to cancel a new subscription for a full refund. However, to ensure your family can start learning without delay, we provide immediate access to our digital curriculum. By creating and activating a child profile, you expressly consent to the immediate supply of our digital services and acknowledge that you waive your 14-day right to cancel for a refund.
Post-Cancellation Data Retention: If you cancel your service (or if it is cancelled due to non-payment), we will hold your Vault data and educational reports for a 60-day grace period. After 60 days, all data will be permanently and irretrievably deleted to protect your privacy, unless you have requested immediate deletion under your GDPR rights.
6. EDUCATIONAL OUTCOMES & LIABILITY DISCLAIMERS
We provide the map and the compass, but you are the captain of your child’s educational journey.
No Guarantee of Results: While our 8,000+ lessons and Labs are designed to inspire and educate, AstraLearners makes no guarantees regarding academic improvement, examination results, or specific educational milestones.
External Assessments & LEAs: Our reporting tools are designed to assist you in logging work. However, providing a "suitable education" is legally the responsibility of the parent. We accept no liability if your Local Education Authority (LEA) deems your provision insufficient, nor do we guarantee our reports will satisfy specific external assessments.
Virtual Labs Safety: Our digital science labs (e.g., Bunsen's Lab) are simulated environments. They are not a substitute for real-world safety training. AstraLearners is not liable for any injuries or damages should a user attempt to replicate virtual experiments in the physical world without proper supervision and appropriate safety equipment.
7. CONTENT RIGHTS & ACCEPTABLE USE
Intellectual Property: The AstraLearners platform, Labs, gamified Passports, algorithms, and specific SaaS functionalities are our exclusive property.
Curriculum Sourcing: Our curriculum utilizes materials from Oak National Academy and various Creative Commons sources. While you may access this content freely elsewhere, our curation, platform delivery, and integration are proprietary.
Strict Prohibition on Scraping & Commercial Use: You are granted a limited, personal, non-commercial license to use AstraLearners for your immediate family. You may not scrape our data, reverse-engineer our platform, share your login with other families, or use our platform in a commercial setting (e.g., schools, tutoring centers) without a commercial license. Doing so will result in an immediate, non-refundable ban and potential legal action.
While certain educational materials are sourced via Creative Commons (e.g., Oak National Academy), the specific arrangement, meta-data, scheduling integration, and proprietary 'Passports' and 'Labs' remain the intellectual property of AstraLearners Ltd. Any unauthorized 'crawling' or 'scraping' of the platform is a material breach of these Terms
8. THE VAULT: ZERO-ACCESS STORAGE & FILE RESPONSIBILITY
Your Liability: Because we operate a "Zero-Access" privacy architecture, we do not scan, moderate, or view the files you upload. Therefore, you are entirely legally responsible for the content stored in your Vault. You must not upload illegal, highly sensitive, or malicious files.
Data Compression & Master Copies: We compress uploaded files to optimize storage. You must maintain original, master copies of all important documents on your personal devices. We are not liable for any file corruption, data loss, or degradation of file quality.
System Availability: We strive for continuous uptime, but SaaS platforms occasionally experience downtime for maintenance or unforeseen technical issues. We exclude liability for any temporary "loss of education" or inconvenience caused by system outages, and we do not offer refunds for brief periods of downtime.
9. GOVERNING LAW
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of AstraLearners shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
